NonStopTuning Scion FRS | Subaru BRZ Pulley Dyno Testing
It’s no secret that NonStopTuning has offered popular lightweight pulley options for the 86 chassis. Over the past decade NST has offered more options for the Toyota family of engines found in the AE86, including the 16V/20V variations of the 4AGE and 4AGZE, than all other companies combined.
Carrying that tradition forward, NST now offers a lightweight kit for the second coming of the 86 chassis and the FA20 powered Scion FRS, Subaru BRZ, and Toyota GT86.
The NST Lite series is a designation used for pulleys that are light-weight versions of their OEM counterparts. All NST pulleys are built using High quality 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum and are easily 65% to 70% lighter than steel or cast iron OEM pulleys. Every NST pulley is hard anodized for exceptional durability and is a great item for use at the track or on the street.
The NST CR-Lite Pulley is compatible with naturally aspirated, turbocharged, or supercharged applications, and is compatible with the OEM belt. No belt change is required when this crank pulley is used.
We had the opportunity to test a set of NST pulleys on a stock BRZ this week. Scott’s world rally blue pearl BRZ came to us as an otherwise unmolested test car. No previously installed performance mods of any kind would ensure that we would get the best raw data possible. The NST Pulley Kit is the only power adder that was added to this car during the session, and all dyno runs were performed on the same dyno, on the same day, at Carboy Racing in southwest Houston.

The 2014 Formula Drift season has flown by. With only two events remaining as of this writing (FD Texas and FD Irwindale) we decided to share some of our favorite photos, from the first five events.

Josh McGuire and the NonStopTuning Sparky’s Speed Shop Nissan S14 wrapped up a very successful season on August 16/17, winning the 2014 Lone Star Drift championship. The 2014 series title comes as the third ProAM championship in the last four seasons for NonStopTuning, with Chelsea DeNofa and Will Parsons winning as NST drivers in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
McGuire and his team were very well prepared all season and finished on the podium at every event, minus the final event (Round Six) where the car suffered mechanical failure and McGuire was unable to qualify.

NonStopTuning 2014 Formula Drift Team – Will Parsons, Taka Aono
NonStopTuning is proud to announce its partnership with Will Parsons and Taka Aono for the 2014 Formula Drift season. The NST Drift Team will kick off the season at Round 1 in Long Beach CA, April 4/5 2014, and is excited to campaign the season with two of the most seasoned AE86 veterans in North America.
Will Parsons has been the flagship driver for NST since 2007 and has years of experience with the AE86 chassis in series such as Formula Drift, Lone Star Drift, Xtreme Drift Circuit, and D1GP USA. Parsons and the team have enjoyed a great deal of success in the Lone Star and XDC series, and look to continue building the program in FD, following a successful rookie campaign in 2013.
Taka Aono has more experience with the AE86 chassis than any other drifter in the USA, and is the only ten year FD veteran to campaign with the same chassis during the existence of the series. Joining the team for the 2014 season, Aono brings with him an incredible amount of professional experience and knowledge, with a very long and successful resume in drifting, road racing, and instructional driving.
NonStopTuning is extremely proud to have these two great drivers on board for the 2014 season. Here’s to a great year!

NonStopTuning 2013 Formula Drift Atlanta Recap
Drift teams seem to deal with a variety of challenges at each turn. Some are minor; travel plans or logistics… others require an ability to adapt on the fly. The NST crew are no strangers to last minute challenges and projects going late into the night, and were faced with adversity on the road to Atlanta.
After having experienced engine failure at the Formula Drift season opener in Long Beach (blog recap) Will and Davy Parsons quickly built a new F20C engine for the NST AE86. Will’s new setup for FD Atlanta would be built for more boost, run on Q16 race gas, and would make upward of 500hp. That was the plan. Unfortunately in the drift world, things rarely go as planned. The AE86 went on the dyno the night before the crew would leave for Atlanta. Wheel horsepower numbers climbed to 460, 470, 480… this is where things got interesting! Unfortunately the clutch would start to slip at these power levels. The torque output was just too much for our old clutch kit.
Knowing that the team would need to leave in a matter of hours, a decision was made and the car was loaded up on the trailer. We sent at email to Shelly at SPEC Clutch and asked if we could drive through Alabama to visit SPEC on our way to Georgia.
While on the road the following day, I made a phone call and spoke with Jeremy at SPEC. Jeremy was kind enough to rush a new kit for the turbo F20C and instructed us to grab the kit later that day. Thank you Shelly and Jeremy for all your help. You guys rock!
Our next task would be reaching Joseph Dale’s in Atlanta. You may know Joseph Dale, Jason Scott, and Dennis Nguyen from the awesome SOUTHRNFRESH website and blog. Joseph was kind enough to allow a NonStopTake-over of his garage. The AE86 drivetrain was quickly dismantled and the new clutch was installed. Joseph, founder and editor in chief at SOUTHRNFRESH even surprised us with a full blog feature on this portion of our trip.
Check it out and be sure to give these guys a like on facebook.

The following couple of days brought a few firsts. Will Parsons would lay down his first qualifying runs in Formula Drift, would become the first 2013 rookie to qualify for the field of top 32, and would become the first rookie to score points in FD this season!
As seen on the Wrecked Magazine Blog: http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/blog/2013/05/10/will-parsons-and-nate-hamilton-become-the-first-rookies-to-score-points/
Saturday brought with it the round of top 32 and another challenge… rain. Will Parsons battle against Matt Powers resulted in a chase run in dry conditions followed by a lead run in the rain. This was the first time we had seen rain this weekend and the wet course proved to be too tricky to navigate for many of the drivers throughout the remainder of top 32 and 16.
The NST drift team had an awesome weekend at FD Atlanta. Will Parsons showed, as he has time and time again, that he has what it takes to battle adversity, layed down some great runs in the new car, and showed why he is a serious contender for 2013 FD Rookie of the Year. We will be back at it at round three on June 1, 2013, in Palm Beach, Florida.
Many thanks to all the fans who came out to support the drivers and teams, we certainly appreciate your help and support. A special thanks to all the media personnel providing amazing coverage at this event, and a huge thanks to all our sponsors this season: SPEC Clutch, 86motoring, AUTOCOMP, BC Racing Suspension, WEIR Performance, and D3 Performance.
