AE86 owners at the 2010 86garage Statewide Meet!
The Toyota Corolla AE86 has been an icon of the Japanese car culture for over 25 years now. The car that started drifting in Japan has received worldwide fame over the past couple decades, especially here in the USA. More than a dozen AE86 owners came out when a few members of the local Texas forums, 86gargae.com, decided to host a 2010 statewide meet in Austin, Texas.
Most of these guys have more than one 86, some are parts cars, others are projects that will likely never be finished on time, some are lightly modified, while others will destroy cars that carry a price tag three to four times as much. Either way, all these guys and girls LOVE their cars and they came to hang out, chat with other 86 owners, and drive the Austin twisties.

NST @ 2010 86garage Statewide & Mean Streets Drift

Austin is always a great city to visit, and it really doesnt get much better than driving the twisties with a bunch of AE86 owners and hitting a drift event, on the same weekend! About a dozen AE86 members were on hand for the 86garage statewide meet. NST drivers Chelsea DeNofa, Josh Steele, and Will Parsons finished 1, 2, and 5, respectively at the Mean Streets drift event held Saturday.

I got a call today from our good friend Ernie, at XDC. He told me to check out the XDC website, and when I did I was blown away! One of the banners on the XDC index page has the three 2010 NST drift cars listed!

Another great XDC Round One recap video has been posted. We saw the crew who shot this video walking around throughout the day, and I’ve been awaiting the release of this video anxiously. It went up on StreetFire a couple days ago, and the quality and content is just awesome!

Another local drift event has come and gone… another batch of tires have been smoked, barrels of gas and Red Bull are empty. And yet, if you were to call any of us to go out there again tomorrow the answer would be the same… “I’ll meet you there in the morning!”
I hardly ever take my own camera out to local events these days. The local coverage from sources such as Mayday Garage, Andrew Castaneda, and other talented photographers means that the drivers and event staff can have one less thing to worry about. A blast from the past, Alex of DailyDrifter fame was even on hand, taking pics this time around! These guys take awesome pics and we try to make sure other things run smoothly.
